Every year following the Eurobasket Summer League events, the Eurobasket.com team selects a team to take overseas and play against professional teams with the goal to stick with a team for the start of their season. The team has an 85% success rate of getting the players on the team a job for the upcoming season which makes a roster spot on this team a very prized possession for prospective players. This year we have decided to go to Germany to play 10 games against German opponents. Germany over the past few years has housed nearly 20% of all Americans playing overseas. By far the highest percentage of any country in the world with professional basketball. ESL Director Dustin Simcox will be accompanying the team serving as the players' representatives (along with Iska Waterloh from Slammers Agency [Bonn, Germany]) for teams and assistant coaching the team. Simcox has hired Russian Coach Allen Mkrtychyan as the team's head coach. Mkrtychyan has had a very busy summer as he was invited to be a Assistant Coach for the Armenian National Team followed by serving both sessions of the Vegas ESL. "Coach Mkrtychyan was very respected by the players at the ESL events in Vegas and has continued to be a friend of Eurobasket. With experience at the National Team level along with playing experience in Russia, Allen will be a great asset to the players looking to begin their professional careers," Simcox said. The ESL Select Staff will consist of Mkrtychyan, Simcox, and Casey Tuoto an athletic trainer based in San Francisco, CA.

The first game of the day that featured 7 members of the Eurobasket team battled all the way to the finish but came up just short.
