UA-Monticello's Dayton Mickens (203-F-91, college: Ark.-Monticello) scored the first 7 points of the game for Eurobasket helping them defeat Rot-Weiss Cuxhaven 79-68. Mickens ended the game with a double-double finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds in his first action of the tour. He sat out the win against VfL AstroStars Bochum on Friday night. Eurobasket Select had a much more balanced attack on the offensive end led by Ozarks's Ethan Murray (188-G-93, college: Coll.of the Ozarks) 14 points. Northwood's Darvin Ham (196-F-92, college: Northwood), Yale's Jack Montague (183-PG, college: Yale), and William Carey's Jeremiah Dunnings (183-PG, college: William Carey) all finished with 11 points.

Friday's win got off to a slow start but that was not the case on Saturday as Eurobasket took the lead early and never let Cuxhaven take another lead after the eight minute mark of the 1st quarter. Mickens, Dunnings, Paine's Don Quarles (193-F/G-92, college: Paine) (6 pts, 5 reb, 2 stl), Brown's Josh Biber (196-G/F-91, college: Brown) (8 pts, 7 reb), and Dominican's William Wise (206-F) started the game off. Eurobasket's opened the lead to 8 mid way through the first following a put back by Biber and an easy transition layup by Dunnings.

The second unit pushed the lead out all the way to 15 points led by Montague, Murray, Ham, and North Dakota's Josiah Coleman (196-F-94, college: N.Dakota). The home team would fight back to cut the lead to eight by halftime with strong play from Croatian Center Dragan Sekelja (213-C-91, college: Florida Atlantic) and Serbian/Croatian Forward Sinisa Cvetanovic (201-SF-94). 'Every time we would extend the lead to double figures, Cuxhaven would respond. Sekelja and Cvetanovic were both very difficult matchups for us but I'm glad our guys were able to stay composed and finish the game strong," Eurobasket Select Head Coach Allen Mkrtychyan said.

Midway through the 3rd quarter Cuxhaven came out of a timeout in a 2-3 zone to try and slow down the pace. That is when Murray came in to break the zone. Within 2 minutes of entering the game he was able to knock down two 3 point field goals and get to the foul line for two more points. Dunnings followed Murray's run with one of his own as he got 3 pointer from the top of the key and a very spiritual 4 point play a few moments later. 'We had a 4-5 minute stretch where Ethan and Jeremiah really opened the game up for us. When a team tries to go zone against us we need our shooters to come through, and they did tonight', ESL Tour Manager Dustin Simcox said. 'What wont show up in the box score is the excellent defensive play of Ajani Santos (201-F/C-94) on Sekelja. During that stretch they tried to slow the game down with him and Ajani made everything difficult for him.'

Notes: Dunnings and Montague have scored double figures in both games...Mickens first double-double of tour for any player...Biber five offensive rebounds is a team high and tour high...Eurobasket Select plays Weser Baskets Bremen/BTS Neustadt this afternoon at 4 pm German time/10 AM EST/7 AM PST.
