Top former ESL players currently in pro basketball based on last week's performance - Mar 6, 2013

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Eurobasket Summer League players who are currently playing pro basketball.


Matija Poscic
Matija Poscic
   #1. Matija Poscic (204-C-85, college: De Paul, currently plays in Croatia) led KK Zagreb to a victory over the seventh-ranked KK Zabok (6-10) 85-72 in the Croatian A1 in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Poscic had a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 3 assists in 31 minutes. KK Zagreb (12-4) is placed first in the A1. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Poscic's first season with the team. Poscic is currently fifth on the list of best rebounders with 6.5rpg. He also averaged so far 9.2ppg in the 15 games he played so far. He attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. In 2012 Poscic went to the ESL camp in Torino playing for Team Torino.

Kyndall Dykes
Kyndall Dykes
   #2. Kyndall Dykes (190-SG-87, agency: Edge Sports, college: New Orleans, currently plays in Ukraine) led Hoverla to a 3-point victory over the 11th-ranked Kryvbasbasket (13-21) 68-65 in the Ukrainian Superleague last Friday. Dykes was the best player in that game. He scored 22 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists. Hoverla Ivano-Frankivsk (19-15) is placed sixth in the Superleague. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Dykes has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 17.1ppg, 5.1rpg, 2.4apg and 1.8spg. Worth to mention Dykes played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Four years ago he took part in the ESL camp in Malaga, Spain playing for Team Naples.

Demarius Bolds
Demarius Bolds
   #3. Demarius Bolds (190-G-84, agency: I.D.S. Law, college: Missouri Western, currently plays in Czech Republic), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL could not help BC Kolin (15-11) in their last game. Despite Bolds' very good performance the sixth-placed BC Kolin lost 91-96 on the road to the higher-ranked (#5) BK Decin in the Group A1. He was the top scorer with 29 points. Bolds also added 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 32 minutes. Bolds is currently fourth on the list of top scorers and also on the list of most steals (second place). He has individually a very good year with high stats. Bolds averages: 17.7ppg, 6.9rpg, 2.5apg and 2.1spg in the 26 games he played so far. Bolds is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Five years ago he played at the ESL camp in Chicago playing for Warsaw.

Jermaine Barnes

   #4. Jermaine Barnes (194-G/F-82, agency: Gamble Sports Management, college: Point, GA, currently plays in UBA) led GIE Maile Matrix to a victory over the Team Japan (2-3) crushing them 118-82 in the UBA in Saturday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Barnes recorded a double-double by scoring 35 points and making 13 passes. He also added 8 rebounds and 3 steals. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group Southern. The GIE Maile Matrix has a solid 8-3 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Barnes is currently first on the list of top scorers and also on the list of best passers (second place). He has individually a very good season with high stats. Barnes averages: 25.2ppg, 7.0rpg, 7.2apg and 2.1spg. He is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. In 2011 Barnes attended the ESL camp in Houston playing for Tokyo.

Steven Bennett
Steven Bennett
   #5. Steven Bennett (173-PG-88, college: Chaminade, currently plays in Germany) led Spot Up Medien Baskets to a victory over the ninth-ranked BSW Sixers (9-12) crushing them 99-71 in the German ProB (third division) last Saturday. Bennett was the top player that evening. He scored 35 points (!!!), had 7 rebounds and dished 8 assists in 37 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Bennett's third season in pro basketball. Spot Up Medien Baskets Braunschweig (10-11) is placed sixth in Group North. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Bennett has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 22.7ppg, 4.1rpg, 5.1apg and 2.4spg in the 10 games he played so far. He played in 2012at the Eurobasket Summer League in Las Vegas for Team Lugano.

David Tairu
David Tairu
   #6. David Tairu (191-G-86, agency: INVICTUS Sports Group, college: Texas Tech, currently plays in Balkan League), who plays in Greece could not help Kavala (3-5) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his very good performance Kavala (#5) was badly defeated 94-75 at home by the second-ranked Galil Gilboa in the group C of Balkan League. Tairu was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 7 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the Balkan League Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. Tairu has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages: 15.7ppg, 4.3rpg and 1.3apg. Tairu is a naturalized American. Tairu attended two years ago the Eurobasket Summer League camp in Houston.

Bilal Benn
Bilal Benn
   #7. Bilal Benn (196-G/F-86, college: Niagara, currently plays in Israel) was the major contributor in an Ironi Nes-Ziona's victory against the fifth-ranked Elitzur Yavne (14-6) 113-104 in the Israeli National League (second division) in Tuesday night's game. Benn had a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 5 assists and 4 steals in 44 minutes; not bad, considering it's only Benn's third season in pro basketball. Ironi Nes-Ziona (17-3) is placed first in the National League. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Benn is currently sixth on the league's list of best passers and also on the list of most steals (third place). He has individually a very good year with high stats. Benn averages: 18.5ppg, 9.2rpg, 4.3apg and 2.8spg in the 20 games he played so far. Worth to mention he played also for Team Zurich at the ESL in Las Vegas in 2010.

Robert Holcomb Faye

   #8. Robert Holcomb Faye (185-G-84, college: Radford, currently plays in Holland) led Leeuwarden to a victory against the closely-ranked Zwolle (16-13) 96-83 in the Dutch Eredivisie last Saturday. Holcomb Faye recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and making 11 passes. He also added and 3 steals. Aris Leeuwarden (16-13) is placed fifth in the Eredivisie. Holcomb Faye is the league's best passer. He has very reliable stats this season: 12.4ppg, 3.0rpg, 7.9apg and 1.8spg. He played five years ago at the ESL in Las Vegas for Team Brussels.

   #9. Terrance Woodbury (201-G/F-87, college: Georgia, currently plays in Japan) led Okinawa GK to a victory over the second-ranked Yokohama BC (25-11) 75-58 in the Japanese BJ League on Sunday night. He was the top player that evening. Woodbury recorded 25 points (made all of his seven free throws) in 28 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Western. Ryukyu Golden Kings Okinawa (28-8) is placed first. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. Woodbury has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.2ppg and 4.3rpg in the 30 games he played so far. Woodbury attended in 2010 the ESL camp in Las Vegas.

   #10. Quantez Robertson (189-G-84, college: Auburn, currently plays in Germany) led Deutsche Bank Skyliners to a surprising victory over the fourth-ranked ALBA Berlin (15-8) 65-62 in the German BBL in Sunday night's game. He was the top player that evening. Robertson recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 5 assists and 4 steals. Fraport Skyliners Frankfurt (9-16) is placed 16th in the BBL. Robertson is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Deutsche Bank Skyliners' roster. Robertson belongs to league's best rebounders (ranked #4) and also on the list of most steals (first place). This season he has very good stats: 11.2ppg, 7.0rpg, 2.9apg and 2.0spg. Worth to mention Robertson played also for Team Amsterdam at the ESL in Chicago four years ago.
