We bring you last week's top performances from ex-ESL hoop players who are playing pro basketball and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. Emmanuel Little (196-F-85, college: N.Dakota, currently plays in Mexico) led Rayos de Hermosillo to a victory over the sixth-ranked Mineros de Cananea (14-18) 88-83 in the Mexican CIBACOPA in Tuesday night's game.
He was MVP of the game. Little recorded 25 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists in 34 minutes.
Rayos de Hermosillo (26-6) is placed first in the CIBACOPA.
It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row.
Little has relatively good stats this year: 12.7ppg, 5.4rpg and 3.2apg in the 42 games he played so far.
He attended previously one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball. In 2008 Little went to the ESL camp in Chicago playing for London.
#2. Akeem Wright (200-F/G-84, college: Kansas St., currently plays in New Zealand), who plays in the New Zealand NBL could not help Otago OceanaGold Nuggets (11-3) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance the league leader Otago OceanaGold Nuggets were crushed 114-67 on the road by the lower-ranked Zero Fees Southland Sharks (#4).
Wright was the top scorer with 14 points. He also added 6 rebounds.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Wright is ranked third on the list of the top scorers in the league.
He has individually a very good season with high stats. Wright averages: 21.7ppg, 7.6rpg, 2.9apg and 1.7spg.
Worth to mention he played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball. Four years ago Wright took part in the ESL camp in New York playing for Team Kiev.
#3. Garrius Holloman (198-F-89, college: Beth.-Cookman, currently plays in New Zealand), who plays in the New Zealand NBL could not help Advice First Waikato Pistons (2-12) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the bottom-ranked Advice First Waikato Pistons lost 83-87 on the road to the higher-ranked (#5) Hub Jets.
Holloman had a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 13 rebounds. He also added 4 assists in 40 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Holloman's third season in pro basketball. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
Holloman has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 18.8ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.9apg and 1.9spg in the 12 games he played so far.
He is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Last year Holloman played at the ESL camp in Las Vegas playing for Team Kiev.
#4. Sammy Monroe (198-F-85, college: Newberry, currently plays in Mexico) faced previously mentioned Emmanuel Little in the Mexican CIBACOPA last game.
Monroe, who plays in the Mexican CIBACOPA could not help Mineros de Cananea (14-18) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite his good performance Mineros de Cananea was defeated 88-83 on the road by the leading Rayos de Hermosillo.
Monroe recorded 12 points.
Monroe is ranked second on the list of the top scorers in the league.
He has individually a very good season with high stats. Monroe averages: 23.8ppg, 6.3rpg, 3.0apg and 1.6spg.
Monroe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. In 2010 he attended the ESL camp in Las Vegas playing for Team Geneva.
