The beginning of the second day of action in Houston saw Tokyo and Dubai battle it out in a game in which Tokyo had control throughout. Dubai would not go away easily and cut a 16-point deficit to five with a minute left, but it was not enough. Tokyo had an all-around team effort. Leading the way for Tokyo was Eric Neveaux (188-G-86, college: Nicholls St.) who had 19 points and eight rebounds and Chris Peterson, who had 17 points and 9 rebounds. James Vaughan also had 14 points and nine assists. Kenneth Fluellen, who finished with 25 points, and almost brought his team back all the way, led Dubai. Big man Matt Peeler (203-F/C-91, college: Evansville) had 16 points and 13 rebounds.
A closely contested game throughout, Mexico City was barely able to edge out Buenos Aires 90-87 for a victory. It was back-and-forth throughout. At halfitme, Buenos Aires led by 11, but they were not able to hold onto their lead, seeing it disappear into a seven-point deficit entering the fourth quarter. Chris Davis and Wuseng Dogale (191-PG-90) both had 21 points for Mexico City, while Gerard DeVaughan had 18 points and 14 rebounds. PJ Meyers (173-PG-89, college: Life) had a big game for Buenos Aires, finishing with 33 points, while teammate Ryan Watts had 20 points and seven rebounds.
The fifth game of the Houstons Eurobasket Summer League was, again, a tight contest that saw Buenos Aires improve to 2-1 overall with an 86-83 victory. Jerel Hastings (196-G/F-86, college: Albany) starred for Buenos Aires, finishing with 20 points, four rebounds and three assists, showing off a complete all-around game. Teammate Victor Taylor (188-G-86, college: Tenn Temple) had 19 points. Brent Jennings (193-G-88, college: So.Poly State) and James Vaughan both had double-doubles and finished with 22 points for Tokyo.
The last game of Day 2 saw Dubai get come out victorious over Mexico City, 96-82. The game was closer than the score indicated, as Dubai pulled away towards the end, but it was tied at halftime and Mexico City made just enough shots to keep the game interesting. Dubai had five guys score in double figures, led Robert Mayes and Garland Judkins, who scored 19 and 16, respectively. Matt Peeler had 15 rebounds. Gerard DeVaughan had a monster game for Mexico City, recording 29 points and 20 rebounds. Teammate Wuseng Dogale had 18 points.
