Atlanta, GA - The Eurobasket Summer League Womens Event in Atlanta named Rushia Brown the Event Director.
Rushia the former seven (7) year WNBA player and ten (10) year European player will head the ESL annual Womens event.

Rushia outstanding network of contacts in the Womens basketball market, her passion for the game and the Eurobasket brand will make the ESL event the best in the market.

Rushia Brown, a Charleston, SC native was introduced to organized basketball as a high school freshman.
Twenty years later, her legacy as a professional athlete with the WNBA and FIBAs international league, motivates aspiring young women to pursue their dreams.

She attended Furman University and by the time Brown graduated, she had been named the team MVP and All-Conference four (4) consecutive years and twice named Edna Hartness Player of the Year. Five years later her jersey #34 would hang from the rafters as she was inducted into Furmans Athletic Hall of Fame.

Rushia had a successful (17) year career consisting of (10) years of professional basketball in Europe, spending time in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and Korea, and 7 years in the WNBA with Cleveland and Charlotte. Brown won numerous championships including 2 European titles, 4 national titles and an Eastern Conference Championship with the Cleveland Rockers. The most highly regarded victory by Brown came off the court was her ability to live in different cultures and pick up languages.

After retiring from the professional ranks of basketball, Brown became and advocate of the sport and the young ladies that play it.
Brown created OverTime Basketball Academy in 2006 with a mission of providing young girls young ladies an opportunity to learn how much can be gained if they put in the OVERTIME, not just on the court, but in all facets of their lives.

Browns commitment to the game and the women that play it doesnt stop with the youth. In 2010, Brown partnered with the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) and the Womens National Basketball Players Association to form the WPBAA, an organization that assists female professional basketball players in the WNBA and Europe with the resources to transition from the sport to mainstream society. The WPBAA forges healthy relationships with business owners, medical providers, higher learning institutions and support groups to assist players. The organization is committed to both current and retired players.

The ESL 2011 Womens Event in Atlanta will be the third annual year Eurobasket has hosted this event.

Former ESL players have graduated from this event and received overseas opportunities from professional teams.

However with Rushia Browns direction the ESL Womens event will transcend to the elite level of exposure and opportunities for the participants.
