ESL Atlanta Womens Event Press release Day 1 & 2
There were approximate 30 females that embarked on the Suwanee Sports Academy in the Greater Atlanta area on Friday night. Our featured coaches took the talented group of females through a series of drills in a combine style format on Friday evening. One of our featured coaches was European professional player Robert Conley (6'6''-G/F-77, college: Clayton St.) who graced the top leagues in Europe for many years. Jermaine Barnes (6'5''-G/F-82, agency: SportsList Inc., college: Atlanta Christian) the UBA most prolific scorer and international professional player who once scored 63 points in Japan also was a featured coached in the event as well. John White (6'6''-F-67, college: S.Mississippi) a former European professional star who once led France Pro A in scoring and the current coach in the UBA was our last addition to our talented crew of coaches. These coaches provided the female athletes with many years of international and professional experience during the event. The athletes responded to the crew of coaches and learned a lot in the first two days of the combine and skill development portion of the event.
Saturday Day (2)
There were two exciting games on Saturday at the Suwanee Sports Academy that featured some amazing talent. Some of the athletes had outstanding resumes and a few already had professional experience.
France defeated England in the first contest 75-74 in a thrilling game that went to the wire. In the first half France controlled the game but England stormed back in the second period. Brittany Wright (6'0''-G/F) the CIAA standout was very impressive in the first half as she simply shot the lights out scoring 15 of her 17 points. She has great size, ball handling ability and has a knack to score the ball in a variety of ways. She is also a good rebounder. Kanetra Gonzalez (5'5''-G) the ultra quick point guard played very well and added 12 points and 3 assists for the winning team. Ricshanda Bickham (5'6''-G-89) of Nicholls State used here amazing speed and quickness to run the offense for Team France and scored 13 points and 6 assists. She is a pure PG and has a great basketball IQ. Jasmine Abrams (6'1''-F-88) played well adding 14 points and 3 rebounds showing a nice all around game. The monster performance that stunned the coaches and scouts was Porche Grant (6'2''-C-88) 22 points and 19 rebounds. She is a serious athlete with a motor like work ethic. She plays hard on every possession and is a gifted rebounder. At times she reminded us of a Dennis Rodman type of player. Porche can definitely play in Europe due to her size and athleticism which is phenomenal. She is a double double player in Europe that needs to work on being consistent offensively. If she improves overseas she could be a WNBA player. Lauren Falohun (5'9''-G-88) (17pts, 4rbs, 7ast) is a serious hustler with remarkable energy that can play hard all game long. She was in the best shape of all the athletes in the event. Her decisions were really good with the basketball and she is a serious defensive player. Chimere Jordan (5'8''-G-89) added a quite 14pts and showed flashes in the second half of a special type of player. She is a great athlete that can create and score the basketball. Rachel Pike (6'0''-F-85) was also very good in this game as she scored 12 points and had 6 rebounds in a quality all around effort.
France 75: Kanetra Gonzalez: 12pts, 2rbs, 3ast Brittany Wright (6'0''-G/F): 17pts; 3rbs Keturah Spotwood: 4pts, Jennifer Simpson: 8pts, 2rbs LaTisha Greer: 6pts, 4rbs Ricshanda Bickham (5'6''-G-89): 13pts, 2rbs, 6ast

The second game was a quality contest as well with Spain defeating Greece 74-64. Team Spain is loaded with talent but Greece made a game out of it by playing hard. However the talent size and skill level of Spain was to much to deal with. Spain was led by Shantel Ragin (5'10''-G/F-87, agency: Promotex, college: Clayton St.) who landed the first triple double in the ESL 2011 with 15pts, 11rbs and 10ast. She is a terrific athlete who has a great basketball IQ and amazing slashing skills to the basket. Shantel has European professional experience and separated herself from the rest of the players in this event with her awesome performance. Nadia Parker (6'3''-C-87, college: USC) was terrific and has a great package of skills, size, footwork and a nice shooting touch. In the combine portion of the event Nadia was one of the shooters in the ESL Womens event. She has European pro experience and is eager to play again professionally overseas. Our expert coaches thinks that she is the best prospect at the event based on her skills and size. Nadia scored 16pts and 7rbs effortlessly the first game and blocked at least 5 shots. Tiana Beatty (5'8''-G-87) is a pure athlete that runs the floor and finishes plays well. She scored 10 points and 4 rebounds. Eurobasket would like to announce the dates of this year's Eurobasket Summer League. Eurobasket has made some changes with the sites from last year to ensure eligible basketball players every chance of being seen by scouts. This year's ESL's will have scouts at every destination. According to ESL director, Chris Warren, 'we have directly placed ESL sites in places where NBA and European scouts will already be going. For example, we will run a summer league 4 blocks away from the NBA Summer League in Orlando, Florida the week they will be hosting the Summer League. Also, we will run the Las Vegas ESL during the Vegas NBA Summer League right next door, 40 feet away in the next building. I wanted to change the dates and locations that made sense to be where the action was and where the scouts are'. The Treviso ESL will be held at the same time as the Treviso Euro Camp as many coaches from Europe and NBA will be in attendance. There is absolutely no way that there will be any other camps in the United States or Europe that will be able to compete with what Eurobasket is doing. Eurobasket will be where all the scouts are going each and every camp we have this year. Eurobasket is very excited this year to announce the Portsmouth ESL to be run at the same time of the Portsmouth Invitational. Portsmouth brings in as many scouts, team owners, gms, coaches and agents as does the Las Vegas NBA Summer League and eurobasket wanted to be there. Eurobasket will be inviting the top 80 players in the nation from NCAA division I, II, III and NAIA as well as having a free agent team. There will be no doubt that this ESL will be a huge success and will ensure players that may have been overlooked by PIT to get their chance to be seen. Along with these camp sites there will be ESL's in Indianapolis, Charlotte and a women's ESL in Indianapolis.

Chris Warren, president of Warren Sports International, located in Indianapolis, Indiana was appointed manager of the Eurobasket Summer League by Marek Wojtera of Eurobasket. Chris will assume the duties of overseeing the summer league immediately. Chris Warren is currently in negotiations with several sites where ESL will be located in summer of 2012. Thus far it looks like we will be holding the ESL in these cities: Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Atlanta, New York and Italy. The summer league in Italy is being planned as a replacement for the traditional Treviso Summer League that is no longer running. Chris Warren has stated, 'that we are very excited to be holding the summer league in Forli, Italy and we are working with team officials from Fulgor Libertas Basketball Club of Forli, Italy where the summer league will be run. I have always thought that a location such as this where coaches can come to a central location in Europe during the summer which happens to be a very nice vacation spot, would be great place to hold a camp of summer league. We feel like this will be something that will be very promising for years to come.' Also, there will be a Coaches clinic held at the Forli, Italy location and the Indianapolis, Indiana location at the same time as the summer league. According to Chris Warren, John Spezia will be responsible for the organization of the coaches clinic as well as assisting with other duties with each summer league. Both John and I felt that with the amount of coaches that we plan on having at each event, why not hold a couple of coaches clinic so that coaches can pick up some new strategies from each other as well as top level players.' Lastly, there will be a women's Eurobasket Summer League held during the final four for women in Denver this spring of 2012. 'Were very pleased and excited that we have a dynamic new manager with proven leadership, diverse interests and a strong background. Chris has the passion not only for basketball, but has strong organizational skills as well. Chris is a true basketball man, energetic and engaging, he is ideally suited to marshal the talent to maximize the potential of the Eurobasket Summer League as a world leader in professional basketball players acquiring jobs in playing overseas or stateside, said Marek Wojtera, Sports IT director of Eurobasket. According to Chris Warren, most camps during the summer are held as moneymakers for agents who cannot attract the coaches nor can they get jobs for their players. Therefore, these agents or camp coordinators benefit monetarily on the hopes and dreams of these aspiring players trying to get a contract professionally. The ESL will have high level players, agents, scouts, pro gms and coaches who will all be looking for talented individuals to sign.'
