Las Vegas ESL Co-MVPs and All-Star Teams from Court 1 & 2! - Jul 18, 2012
Close to 100 scouts, gms, coaches and agents came through Las Vegas ESL in the last 3 days to see the players and the guys did not disappoint. Everyone worked hard and competed. There was an abundance of talent here at the Las Vegas ESL and it was a tough decision for the coaches to decide on who made the all-tournament team. However, the coaches have based their decisions on the following: professionalism, effort, and the statistics produced over the last 2 days.
Court 1:
Co-MVP: David Graham (196-G/F-85, college: Georgetown, KY) displayed an impressive three day performance in all aspects of what he did here. He is a good athlete that has a solid 3pt range and a mid-range game as well. David has a nice step back jump shot and he can create off the dribble to get space to get of his shot. He also is very athletic, plays solid defense, rebounds well, brings a lot of energy and doesnt get put worked by anyone on the court. He is a swing player that can play anywhere in Europe and has a bright future.
Marquis Wright (203-F/C-80, college: Alabama) is a high quality forward who has some nice offensive skills. He can post up around the basket; he can slash and go past slower big men easily and he has a nice mid range jump shot. Marquis is an excellent rebounder and shot blocker as well. He runs the floor hard and with his skill level could be a big time forward in any European league. Raymond was the best skilled forwards in the ESL Summer Camp and has a great attitude and is very coachable.
Zach Coverstone (208-F, college: Ind.Wesleyan) is an excellent hard working post player that has a nice shooting touch. He can run the floor well and finish in the open court. He is solid low post defender who the athletic ability to defender smaller players. Zach is a solid rebounder and has a bright future playing international professional basketball. He is also a good passer and rebounds extremely well.
Randell Daigle (177-G-87) is an excellent combo guard who can score in bunches from anywhere on the floor. He has a deep shooting range and can pull up off the pass or dribble without needing a lot of space to shoot. He can finish at the rim in traffic and is a great passer as well. Has a high basketball IQ and is a good leader on the floor. Randall is a solid defender with good quickness.
Clyde McKinney (180-G, college: Ferris St.) is a great leader and does a great job of getting his teammates involved in offensive play. He is a sold shooter from 3pt range and is a good finisher in the open court. He can finish and pass well in traffic. Clyde is a tough defender with quick hands and can defend any ball screen situation with ease. High Basketball IQ and does great job recognizing favorable match-up situations.
Court 2:
Co-MVP: Jason Conley (196-G-81, agency: Pro One Sports, college: Missouri) was the ESL Las Vegas MVP of court 2 without a doubt and displayed all the qualities in an MVP we were looking for. He is a terrific shooter who shot the lights out over the last few days. Also, his experience and team leadership were second to none. Jason is set to make a serious look at some big time jobs in Europe and show everyone that the injury bug is over. Look for Jason to end up back in the BBL of Germany.
Ryan Anderson (193-G-87, college: Nebraska) is a high quality forward who simply has some nice offensive skills with a very high basketball IQ. He can post up around the basket; he can slash and go past slower big men easily and he has a nice mid range jump shot and posesses a long range threat. He runs the floor very well and with his skill level could be a big time forward in any European league. I would look for Ryan to have a break out year in Europe or the D-League giving him an opportunity on a NBA summer league roster next year.
Antoine Watson (193-F-88, college: Indiana SE) is an excellent big time athlete that has a nice shooting touch stretching it out to the NBA line. He can get his shot off at will and he explodes over defenders with his NBA athleticism. He is great absorbing contact and still finishing around the rim. He is also a good ball handler who will be an excellent two man and rebounds extremely well. Antoine is going to end up at a high level here or overseas.
Alex Zampier (191-G-88, college: Yale) is a big time prospect in Europe without a doubt as he can handle it, shoot threes and get to the basket. He is a great athlete as he played professional baseball already as he is a very athletic swing man that has a nice game of slashing to the basket and shooting the perimeter shot all the way to NBA 3. He is perfect for any quality situation in Europe and will get to a high level for sure.
G.W. Boon (193-SG-89, college: Bucknell) does not disappoint each and every time you see him. He is a very strong player and is always very consistent. Boon can play 3 and 4 in small leagues such as Luxembourg. However, he has a very high IQ and could play the 2 and 3 in a league such as BBL of Germany.
