We are proud to announce that the most prestigious international exposure camp is coming to Istanbul. Eurobasket Owner Marek Wojtera, Eurobasket Summer League (ESL) Director Dustin Simcox, Bakirkoy Basketball Club General Manager Ugur Turker , and Sporting Work Owner Faik Ersoy all came to an agreement to bring ESL to Turkey on July 18-20 and July 21-23. 'We have long wanted to bring such an event to Istanbul, with the help of Mr. Ersoy, Marek, and Dustin we have finally done it. We want to give players from Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East an opportunity to showcase their talents on a higher stage,' Turker said. 'Istanbul is the only place in the world that can connect so many regions of the world in one place.'

The Eurobasket Summer League is world known for the exposure camps across the United States featuring some of the best college talent across the NCAA and NAIA levels. This year ESL will visit Columbus, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Dallas, and Las Vegas before making it's inaugural trip to Istanbul. The Las Vegas ESL in the past few years has averaged approximately 100 players per event covering 3 days. The first day is a scheduled practice with a certified professional coach, while the next two days will feature pool play and tournament games. In 2016, Chicago Bull's starting guard David Nwaba was named the ESL Las Vegas MVP. ' operates in 193 countries and 421 leagues across the globe. The resources that are provided from this extensive reach is what makes ESL what it is. ESL is responsible for player placements in over 70 countries and 212 players have been placed in the last two years alone,' Simcox said.

So far five coaches have already been announced for participation in the ESL Istanbul. American collegiate coaches Mark Arce and Ron Verlin will make the trip to Turkey for the inaugural event. Arce, a hall of fame coach in the State of California that is among the All-Time Winning-est coaches in CCCAA History at West Hills Coalinga College. He has been awarded Coach of the Year in both 2007 and 2015, while also being only one of two coaches to lead a team to the Elite 8 in two separate regions. Verlin, a former Head Coach at NCAA I school the University of the Pacific, has consistently battled future NBA players such as Zach Collins, Kyle Collinsworth, Patty Mills, Kelly Olynyk, Domantas Sabonis, and NBA Champion Matthew Dellavadova. Playing in the WCC allowed Verlin the opportunity to coach against NCAA Powerhouses Arizona, Oregon, UCLA, and twice a year against Gonzaga.

The three foreign coaches that will be participating at ESL Istanbul will be Zoran Zupcevic , Allen Mkrtychyan, and Ahmad Farran . Coach Zupcevic comes from a background in Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina, where he has excelled both as a player and Coach. He has coached in a variety of disciplines as a Head Coach for the South African Men's national team, United Arab Emirates National Team, assistant coach at Rockford University in the United States, and as an assistant within the Serbian league in Sarajevo. Mkrtychyan, who comes from Moscow, Russia played in both in Russia for U18 CSKA Moscow and the United States at Hawaii Pacific University. Mkrtychyan has worked with the Armenian National Team, West Hills Coalinga College with Coach Arce, and has been the ESL German Tour Coach for the past two seasons posting a 16-6 record. Mkrtychyan has been a fixture at the ESL Vegas Camp for the past 5 years. Farran, comes from a Lebanese background where he is the current head coach of Al Riyadi in Lebanon. In 2017 he was the All-Lebanese League Coach of the Year while also being the FIBA Asia Champions Cup Winner. He has also been worked with a country's national team serving as an assistant coach for Lebanon.

The Eurobasket Summer League continues to provide aspiring basketball players the chance to perform and learn from top caliber coaches from across the globe.
