The Women's Eurobasket Portugal Tour Team kicked off last night with a game against our hosts from Povoa de Varzim. The annual warm up game featured Eurobasket easily handling busy straight off the plane with a 71-27 runaway. The 7 girls that make up this year's team feature 6 Americans and 1 Polish/American Forward. The Polish/American Forward Sylwia Harda (189-F-1991) posted a double-double in the first game with 11 points and a game high 15 rebounds. Guard Mashya Scott (168-G-2001) led all scorers with 18 points to go with 8 rebounds and 2 steals.


The other 2 Eurobasket members to reach double-figures were Jada Camacho (173-G-1999, college: NJCU) with 13 and Taylor Dunn with 10. Kylie Meadows (180-F, college: Bluefield) a 5'11 W/F who played a 3 month stint in Puerto Rico earlier in the year collected 10 rebounds to go with 4 points. Eurobasket has a lot of size and athleticism at the wing positions with Jada Smith (175-G/F) and Wil'Lisha Jackson (173-G/F-2000).. The two combined for 7 steals (Smith 4 and Jackson 3) and seem destined to cause trouble for opposing Portuguese offenses. Smith had 8 points and 4 rebounds in addition to the steals while Jackson had 6 points and 8 rebounds.


The Eurobasket team had an off day today in preparation for tomorrow's matchup with CPN. Last year CPN escaped with a win on presentation day against Eurobasket 71-65.
