Eurobasket Tour splits next two games with Povoa, CPN - September 12, 2024

The ladies tour picked up their 2nd win of the trip in Povoa’s first game following the CN1 promotion from 2024. The 2 Canadian girls on the trip were the only two Eurobasket players to reach double figures in scoring in a well balanced attack. Canadian Mennonite’s Shirliz Apiyo scored 20 points (9-14 FG) to go along with 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Her CMU counterpart Julia Schatkowsky (188-F-1999, college: Winnipeg) scored 12 points to go with 8 rebounds. In her first game of the trip Jaida Muhammad, a 5’6 G from Arkansas Monticello scored 8 points, a game high 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Janisha Lindsey (157-PG-1994, college: Cumberland) the G with professional experience in Armenia picked up 6 steals for the 2nd consecutive game. Rachel Cutts, college: Central Mo.) and Jordan Tobin (178-F, college: Five Towns) each added 6 points in the win.
In the 3rd game of the trip, Eurobasket traveled to top league team CPN for their first liga game of the week. Coach Agostinho never disappoints with the preparation of his team. This year they look to be very strong as their imports Tori DePerry and Tiara Young look like they are ready for the liga schedule! In the double-digit loss, Apiyo continued to excel scoring 16 points with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. She was the only player to reach double figures. Colorado State-Pueblo G Romola Dominguez (170-G) had a great all around game finishing with 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. Kylie Meadows (180-F, college: Bluefield) scored 7 points, while Eden Billups-Campbell (168-G) and Jordan Tobin each scored 6. Tobin led all Eurobasket players with 8 rebounds.
Eurobasket travels tonight to face Coimbroes, tomorrow night in Barcelos, the 15th with a double header against Guifoes and CLIP, and closing out in Olivais. Good luck to the teams throughout the week!

The 2nd and Final Women's Eurobasket Summer League Event took place this past weekend at the University of Texas Arlington in Dallas. This event follows up the Women's Final 4 Showcase that took place in Tampa April 4-6. The 2025 Eurobasket Women's Final 4 Showcase concluded on Sunday April 6th in Tampa, Florida. 97 players competed over 3 days to showcase their abilities for professional coaches, teams, agents, and GMs. It was the best field of players in any previous Final 4 event and the results did not disappoint.
