  Eurobasket Tour drops hard battles with Coimbroes, Barcelos - September 14, 2024

The Eurobasket women dropped two hard fought battles against premier clubs in the North of Portugal. The first game faced off against Coimbroes, coached by the amazing Chico Costa. The past two years have been blow outs in SCC’s favor but this time Eurobasket led for nearly the entire game. Unfortunately, a foul in the closing seconds of a tied game resulted in a one loss defeat for our girls. Kylie Meadows (180-F, college: Bluefield), a 5’10 F that played last season in Cyprus led Eurobasket with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Eden Billups-Campbell (168-G) was the other player to reach double figures with 14. Julia Schatkowsky (188-F-1999, college: Winnipeg) had 9 points and secured 7 rebounds while college teammate Shirliz Apiyo only took 1 shot, but finished with 10 assists, 6 steals, and 4 rebounds. Romola Dominguez (170-G) added 8 points.

The ladies got off to a slow start at Barcelos losing the 1st half by double digits, but fought back to make it a game in the 2nd half. Barcelos 1ST team all league returner Becca Wann-Taylor (180-G-1992, college: Richmond)r got her normal double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. New addition Anaya Peoples (180-G-2000, college: DePaul, agency: Next Page Sports) had 10 points and 14 rebounds. Billups and Arkansas Monticello guard Jaida Muhammad led Eurobasket in scoring with 11. Schatkowsky finished with 8.
Today is an off day as the girls explore Porto. Tomorrow they are back in action with a double header against Guifoes and CLIP. The Guifoes game tips at 3 pm while the CLIP game starts at 6. Stay tuned for more info!
