  Eurobasket Women’s Tour succeeds in weekend matchups with Academico, CDJR - June 3, 2024

The Eurobasket Tour for Women improved to 5-1 on their current trip as players seek opportunities to make a professional team. We have 9 players with us on this trip that are available for opportunities and can be discussed with Eurobasket Director Dustin Simcox at dsimcox@eurobasket.com. Saturday’s matchup featured a visit to Academico, the runner up in the CN2 North. 4 Eurobasket players recorded double-doubles as only 7 active players for were available for the game. Madison Shelton (173-G-1998, college: Ranger CC) was the leader scoring 24 pts and grabbing 13 rebounds while shooting 10-17 from the field. Christina Passerell (180-F, college: John Carroll) scored 21 points and tied a team high 16 rebounds. Roxkel Washington (185-F) was the other Eurobasket player with 16 rebounds while also contributing 10 points and a team high 5 steals. Finally, Hope Jordens, the wing from Briercrest in Canada finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 assists in the win.
On Sunday’s matchup the team visited CDJR where the team once again played with 7 players. On this night, Denaj’za Jackson returned to the lineup and finished with 12 pts, 4 rebound, and 4 assists. However, Anna Pyne, a guard from Canadian Mennonite University swapped teams and played with the CDJR team where she contributed 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists for Coach Hugo Linhares.
The efficiency leader was by far won by Passerell. She scored again 21 points on 7-17 FG (5-10 from 3), while also grabbing 18 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists. Shelton gathered her 2nd straight double-double with 10 rebounds and 13 points. Jzane Cavalli-Money (170-G-1998, college: UMFK) had a good shooting game scoring 14 points and handing out 5 assists. Antanisha Wade (F), a wing from Philander Smith in Arkansas also reached double figures with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals. Washington finished with 11 rebounds and 4 points while Jordens had 6 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The final game of the trip is tonight as the Eurobasket squad will travel to Aveiro to play top league team Galitos. Stay tuned for more updates on these ladies adventure through Northern Portugal Basketball.
