The next two games on the slate were matchups with Valongo and GDAS. These CN1 teams have a good group of young players that will be enhanced with the presence of the foreign players. Valongo will bring Delvin Barnstable from the May tour in a few weeks. Oneonta State’s Joseph Bull (196-G/F) and Saint Thomas University’s Jordan Hernandez (191-G) both eclipsed 20 points in the victory. Bull has led the Eurobasket team in efficiency in every game thus far. In this game he finished with 22 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Hernandez, who struggled to start the week with his shot has come on strong going 4-7 from 3 in this game scoring 20 points with 6 rebounds.
Justin Stewart (185-G) has been the utility man on this trip doing everything that you would want in the hustle department. He scored 10 early points in the 1st quarter and finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double. Guilford College’s Rob Littlejohn (194-G-1999, college: Guilford) had 15 points and 3 steals. Kyler Stork (198-F/C-1998, college: Eureka), the 3 year veteran playing in the Portuguese leagues chipped in 12 points, RJ Rhoden (190-G) added 10, and KJ Smith (180-PG) had 8.
The game against GDAS was their first as a member of the CN1 division after finishing in the top 2 last year. 4 Eurobasket stars finished in double figures with Bull leading the way with 19, followed by Littlejohn and Rhoden’s 14, and former Idaho product BJ Simmons (190-G) 13. Thomas College’s Kory Winch (183-PG) came and stole the show from Bull for he highest efficiency total for the game. Winch contributed 8 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals to fill the box score. Royce Torres (201-F) added 8 points, Hernandez 7, and Stork 6.
Eurobasket has two more games left. Dates with FAC and Olivais before they officially become available to sign with teams.
